Egypt among breakaway 'big 3' for global outsourcing leadership | ITIDA | AMEinfo.com
Egypt today reinforced its position as one of the breakaway 'big 3' leading outsourcing destinations worldwide, according to independent research revealed at Gitex Technology Week by Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and YouGov Siraj.
The research shows a gulf emerging between the dominant status of leaders Egypt (51%), India (85%) and China (62%) - compared to Russia (18%), Brazil (9%), and Ukraine (4%) - with professional client service teams and business understanding identified as key to the outsourcing decision for three-quarters (76%) of respondents.
Decision makers in the GCC region recognized that Egypt has made important in-roads as a global hub over the last 12 months, with 37% confirming that they would consider the country as their destination of choice for outsourcing, compared to 31% in 2009. Business managers that already outsource to Egypt, or would consider doing so, list the availability of Arabic language capabilities, a strong business acumen and professional client service teams as the top three qualities influencing their selection.
Commenting on the results from Gitex Technology Week, Dr. Hazem Abdelazim, CEO of ITIDA, said, "This research carries reassuring news for Egypt, as it continues on a long term journey to enhance its global
competitiveness in the IT sector. These strides aren't taken overnight, but we see from this research that we are amongst good company in building the right environment for a world-leading outsourcing hub that is
successful in attracting inward investment to the country."
When selecting a destination for outsourcing, Mena's decision makers remain clear and consistent on their priorities over the last 12 months. Professionalism continues to be important or very important for 97% of
respondents, with successful outsourcing destinations demonstrating an understanding of the company's organization. At the same time, comparison with 2009 data shows that companies are watching their spending more closely than ever, with 95% citing competitive costs as similarly key. Access to a qualified and skilled talent pool (91%) and a well established and reliable infrastructure, telecommunications and internet access (90%) also lead the list of influencing factors.
"Cost continues to be a competitive factor, but there is more to the decision than this alone," continued Dr. Hazem Abdelazim. "The key to success - as reinforced by these findings - is the construction of a sustainable and professional environment for growth that inspires stability and longevity in business partnerships. Egypt has long recognized this importance and ITIDA is a prime example of an organization dedicated to promoting, developing and growing Egypt's information and communications technology industry with a particular focus on fostering a leading outsourcing destination."
